Quarter finals now. Germany against Argentina - Germany won all their Group games, and won 2-0 against Sweden. Should win surely? Odds on them are 2.76, pretty good. 3.05 for a draw. I could see Germany doing it 2-1 or 1-0.
Also up are Italy vs Ukraine. From the odds, Italy are the clear favourites. 1.63 on them to win, 7.6 on Ukraine to win. 3.75 for a draw. Brazil vs France - Brazil favourites, 1.94 and 4.8 on France. Draw 3.5 England are playing Portugal. 2.18 on England to win, 4.1 Portual. Draw 3.3 It'd be nice for England to get to the semi-finals, although Portugal has better form so far this tournament. The matches take place Friday and Saturday. |

So my first instinct is to bet on Germany, £5 to win. Playing safe after losing all but one of my first 5 bets. If I'd done better, maybe another £5 on 2-1! Odds for 2-1 to DE are 12, which makes it a relative favourite. 1-0 is 8. 2-0 is 16. If I were to bet, it'd be one of those (probably...).
£5 on DE to win, at 2.76, would win £13.8. I guess I should put something on UK to win. I wonder if those odds will go down, if people start backing UK as the match gets closer? The site is international, but primarily UK I think. |

Currently I'm a couple of pence under a tenner down, a fun few bets were had though.
I bet on a couple of outsiders again - £2 on France / Brazil, and same on 1 - 0 to Brazil at half time. So if it's a draw at half-time, I lose both! Ah well. |

Conclusion - no more betting for me! Had £5 on France-Portugal, for a nil-nil draw by 90 min. It was 1-0 France. That had been my other choice - and I decided on which to go for by a coin toss. Well, two in the end - both came up for betting on 1-0 France.
I withdrew the £35 balance from betfair. At least it was £5 more than I put in - they gave you a £25 bet as a promotional offer, although you had to put in at least that before betting. It's paid as a refund on whatever card you paid in with - will be interesting to see how long it takes to come in. |
